Operating a Bed &
Breakfast is a lot of fun (and a lot of hard work!). We get to enjoy the
company of world travelers, life-long friends getting together at reunions,
families preparing for weddings and special occasions, and families on
vacation enjoying a good Missouri adventure on the Katy Trail!
We love our guests, and we
look forward to introducing you to the fun and exciting experience of
operating a bed & breakfast! The Katy Trail Bed &
Bikefest offers a number of seasonal internships in the spring, summer and
fall to area college students seeking to explore the ins and outs of
operating a bed & breakfast.
Definition of Internship
An internship is an opportunity to experience a career by working within a
successful business that is similar to your own interests. It’s a time to
observe, listen, actively experience, ask questions, and most importantly to
learn. Internships are hard work with long hours and little pay, but offer
the invaluable benefit of observing and taking part in the inner workings of
a company from an inside perspective. The experience and knowledge gained
from an internship provides you with valuable tools needed to take that next
step towards pursuing your goal.
Earn College Credit
Internships can be for
experience only, but can also earn college credit. Credit is typically
offered through the University of Missouri-Columbia's Parks, Recreation &
Tourism Department, as well as the Hospitality & Hotel Management degree
programs.
