The Katy Boxcar Guest
Cottage is a
Great Space for Kids of All Ages!
Kids and adults alike will
love the creative genius that Brett threw into every
detail of the boxcar's interior space.
Located just steps from our bed & breakfast, the Katy
Boxcar offers a self-contained space that includes a queen-size bed, two
futons in the loft areas, a fold-out futon in the seating area, air conditioning
and heat, and bathroom with full size shower
and tub combo.

The Boxcar Guest Cottage has its own coffee maker,
microwave, mini-fridge, kitchen sink. Katy Boxcar guests also enjoy full use
of the full-service kitchen (located in the main house just steps away) and BBQ grilling and seating area.
A full continental breakfast is also available in
the main house, just across the lawn.

One end houses the
full-service restroom with bathtub / shower, toilet & sink. There is a
full/queen futon located in the loft above.
The opposite end houses
has another loft with another full/queen sized futon, as well as a
queen-size bed on the main floor.
A huge yard, picnic table
and hammock offer your friends and family a great place to hang out and a
super home base to explore the Katy Trail and the rest of Rocheport.
Secure bike storage is
available in a spacious wooden shed next to the parking area. |
Your kids will enjoy taking a ride on the
tire swing on the big cottonwood tree out front while you laze the afternoon
away in the hammock, to the sound of the trees rustling in the breeze.

The Katy Trail
State Park is the old M-K-T Railroad Line, or Katy, for short. I can't think
of a better place to stage your daytrip or weekend getaway exploring the
Katy Trail than the Katy Trail B&B's Katy Boxcar!
We have a "Self
Check In." Your reservation confirmation email will provide you with the key
code and all of the information needed for your stay, including directions
and contact information should you need anything during your stay. We live a
few blocks away, offering our guests maximum privacy and solitude at our bed
& breakfast. 
Restoring the Katy Trail Boxcar to It's Former
Glory
Who would have thought that a
70-year-old boxcar would ever be the recipient of a "green" renovation! As
we restored the Katy Boxcar into the Katy Boxcar
Guest Cottage at the Katy Trail Bed
& Breakfast, we made it as
eco-friendly as possible.
One day we were
working with blown cellulose insulation and
paperless sheet rock, the next we were uncovering
the original 2 inch thick walnut flooring and working with locally sourced
materials.
We
dismantled a
65-year-old greenhouse in St. Louis and reused
the cypress tongue and groove decking to create
the new, weather-tight exterior walls on the boxcar...
What a journey... It's not every day
you get to bring a boxcar back to life!
Going green makes sense, and it
also ensures
that
your stay is as comfortable as can be.

have a Thomas-the-Tank-Engine-crazy kid (like me!), or just love the Katy

"home base" while your wedding party prepares for the big day.
We're close to Columbia and the University of
Missouri-Columbia, making us a favorite place to stay on University of
